Parent involvement in education is welcomed. We recognise the valuable contribution made by parents and members of the community, on a voluntary basis in supporting students and schools. Please note that with the introduction of the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011, there is a requirement that volunteers are registered. Valued support roles include:
- Listening to children read
- Exchanging home readers
- Assisting children with their writing
- Involvement in Art/Craft classroom activities
- Assisting in areas of expertise eg. Information Technology, drama, music
- Participating in school excursions and camps
- Attending various sports carnivals as helpers and spectators
- Participating as an audience member at school assemblies
- Participating in mini market days
- Attending band and choir performances
- Taking part in special cultural days
- Coaching school sporting teams and involvement in weekend competitions
- Assisting with lunchtime club activities including chess and computers
- Providing home-stay for visitors from our sister city and twin school in Nara, Japan
- Attending Parent/Teacher meetings
- Attending information sessions
- Coming to P&C Association meetings and taking part in discussions on matters of vital educational interest.
